My mother always orders from HSL. It has good service. Take out always done with Ted. Delicious, on time and excellent. We are return clients for the last 10 years.

Came here for dim sum with the fam and found this to be a solid spot in the middle of Makati City. The servers were very helpful and patient-- they moved fast but took the time to guide us on the menu. My mom was looking for something specific but couldn't remember the name of it or find it on the menu, so one server listened to her describe it and found it for us (Two Kinds of Roasted Combination). The restaurant itself is fairly standard. Nothing too special but it did look like they had a private party room. The other items we ordered were all pretty delicious (har gow, pork siomai, prawns in Peking sauce, fried noodles with seafood, superior fried rice, and buchi). I would come back to dine in or order delivery/takeout.

Great seafood restaurant. Their sodium level is just perfect. Fresh ingredients. Whole lobster with garlic sauce was just super yummy.

Philippines review #23 I decided I wanted dim sum for lunch and saw this place was only a couple blocks away. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hai-shin-lou-seafood-king-restaurant-makati?select=YhcJxCn8E3AaIarR6_69cg As we walk in the door we are greeted by a variety of awards this place has earned. Impressive! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hai-shin-lou-seafood-king-restaurant-makati?select=1h2l-4-1P23KzgBZhYF2JQ SERVICE: Excellent! After walking in we are quickly seated. There are very few people, but it's about 2:30 pm, late in their lunch service. It looks and feels pretty high end. Nice table cloths, cloth napkins, a server always nearby to refill water or if you need anything else. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hai-shin-lou-seafood-king-restaurant-makati?select=UO2kcJtBehKkcpgV2iH7ww http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hai-shin-lou-seafood-king-restaurant-makati?select=WBqjIFYjVJJ_UHc5J8Hj-A FOOD: After I order they bring us this plate of fried chips to nibble on. They're interesting, in that they have a kinda salty chicken flavor and are quite good. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/hai-shin-lou-seafood-king-restaurant-makati?select=FfmkgYfTZv3KWflb1VsxJw On to the dim sum! Very good Chinese restaurant. The foods provided were well sophisticated for any kind of customers. Freshness of material was also easily recognised. Problem is only congestion of their parking area and the road they are facing specially in the evening.

My family sometimes eats in Hai Shin Lou for Chinese New Year, though you may want to reserve a table MONTHS in advance. Whenever we aren't able to get a reservation, they're nice enough to let us order take out to eat at home for Chinese New Year, but even when it isn't that day, it's a nice place to eat in, even if parking can be difficult. Really, it's like playing Tetris with cars over there. Here are your must tries: Fried Noodle with Beef, Yang Chow Fried Rice, Hot & Sour Soup, Peking Prawns, Hakaw and Peking Duck. Now, they do have Shark's Fin Soup and Bird Nest's, but I find that evil so we always choose never to order it. But if you would like to try for the heck of it (please don't), by all means do. I've heard that it's very good and tasty (oh, those poor animals, huhu) in Hai Shin Lou. They don't have much of a selection for desserts, but if you really want something sweet after all the MSG that your body has just took in, go for the mango sago. They also have hot pots if you would like to try, I remember trying it once but don't exactly remember if I liked it or not cause I was really tired from walking in Binondo all day.

Let me cut straight to the chase here: if you are a fan of dim sum or just of Chinese food in general, you are doing yourself a great disservice if you haven't laid your taste buds on Hai Shin Lou Seafood King Restaurant. To be honest, I feel like Hai Shin Lou is extremely underrated and it's difficult for me to fathom how obscure it is. The place serves authentic Chinese fare all around -- I'm not sure I've tasted shrimp dumplings or hakaw quite like theirs anywhere in the city -- and that's saying something considering that I'm from a part Chinese family. I essentially grew up eating the stuff in some of the best restaurants in town for special occasions. Be sure to order the Hai Shin Lou Fried Rice. The truth is that it doesn't really what you order; I guarantee you'll be happy with it. TIP: The restaurant is "closed" between 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. but you can walk right in and get dim sum to go. They deliver as well.
